IGAD convenes an Extra-ordinary meeting with the Council of Ministers in Addis Ababa to discuss the situation in Somalia and what measures to take. A communiqué is issued condemning aggression against the TFG and of Eritrea's support for extremists. It calls upon the AU and the UN Security Council to "impose targeted sanctions, freezing of assets among others," against all those who become obstacles to the Somalia peace process. It further calls upon the UN Security Council to impose a no-fly zone, with the exception of humanitarian purposes authorized by the Government, on select Somali airports.
