Closure of UNPOS

The United Nations Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS) completed its Security Council mandate on 3 June 2013. The United Nations continues to provide support to the Somalia Federal Government's peace and reconciliation efforts through the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), established by Security Council resolution 2101 (2013).

TFG Signs Action Plan to end the Killing and Maiming of Children

Mogadishu, 6 August 2012 – An Action Plan on ending the killing and maiming children was signed earlier today in Mogadishu by the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) during the 14th Joint Security Committee (JSC) meeting. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Hussein Arab Isse signed on behalf of the TFG, while Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia, Peter de Clercq signed on behalf of the United Nations.
