Closure of UNPOS

The United Nations Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS) completed its Security Council mandate on 3 June 2013. The United Nations continues to provide support to the Somalia Federal Government's peace and reconciliation efforts through the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), established by Security Council resolution 2101 (2013).

Statement from UNPOS on Opening of Trial in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, 01 February 2013 – The UN Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS) notes that charges have been filed against five individuals in the case opened by the Somali National Police investigating the publication in the media of an allegedly fabricated report on sexual violence in Mogadishu.
