Closure of UNPOS

The United Nations Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS) completed its Security Council mandate on 3 June 2013. The United Nations continues to provide support to the Somalia Federal Government's peace and reconciliation efforts through the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), established by Security Council resolution 2101 (2013).

IGAD’s ministerial meeting in Djibouti

On 7 December 2009, SRSG Ould-Abdallah attended the 33^rd session of IGAD's ministerial meeting in Djibouti. The SRSG used the occasion to appeal to the international community to enhance its support to the Government of Somalia for real results to show on the ground. He also welcomed the continuous support the regional organisation has extended to the Government of Somalia.
