Closure of UNPOS

The United Nations Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS), established on 15 April 1995, supported the Federal Government’s peace and reconciliation efforts. Its mandate ended on 3 June 2013, with its responsibilities transferred to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).

The JSC meets under the co-chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Somalia and the SRSG

Nairobi, 7 August 2010 - The objective of the meeting was to come up with an action-oriented framework, covering several areas which included support to the Somali security forces, Police and the security Ministries. Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke of Somalia made the opening remarks and Dr. Augustine P.
