Addis Ababa, 05 July 2010 – A Communiqué was issued after the IGAD's Heads of States' meeting to deliberate on the situation in Somalia was concluded today. Among the key issues raised were the decision to deploy 2000 peacekeepers under AMISOM to Somalia immediately and a call to the UN to convert AMISOM into a UN peacekeeping operation without delay.
