Closure of UNPOS

The United Nations Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS), established on 15 April 1995, supported the Federal Government’s peace and reconciliation efforts. Its mandate ended on 3 June 2013, with its responsibilities transferred to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).

Addis Ababa, 24 August 2010 – The Council, among other decisions, urged the TFG and ASWJ to enhance their internal cohesion and purposefully work towards national reconciliation and unity among all Somalis in good faith and transparency, in line with the principles and objectives of the Djibouti Agreement.
